If you are having difficulties using any part of the detail library we are here to help!

Firstly, we have put together some of the most frequently asked questions we have received from our members.

Please check them out and see if your question is covered.

Downloading Issues
We recommend all files are downloaded onto a desktop or laptop, rather than a mobile or tablet.
 
The files can then be saved in the cloud if necessary.
 
The files are large, and require a good internet connection and speed in order to download.
Zip Files
We zip up the larger files to enable faster downloading and to provide single downloads rather than multiple downloads for each detail. Some people have experienced difficulty opening the zip files.
 
To open zip files on a PC:
  • Open File Explorer and find the zipped folder.
  • To unzip the entire folder, right-click to select Extract All, and then follow the instructions.
  • To unzip a single file or folder, double-click the zipped folder to open it. Then, drag or copy the item from the zipped folder to a new location.
 
 
To open zip files on a Mac:
  • Locate the Zip archive file in the Finder of the Mac.
  • Double-click the .zip archive file to begin extracting the zip archive *
  • When finished, the unzipped contents will appear in the same folder as the original .zip archive.
 
If these are not working, there are apps available for both PC and Mac that can extract zip files. There are free options for both, we like:
Mac:  The Unarchiver
 
PC: 7-Zip
 
If the above do not work, and you are still experiencing issues opening the files, there could be a problem relating to the download process itself. This sometimes occurs when you have an intermittent or slow internet connection while downloading large files, and can result in a downloaded file to become scrambled, or corrupt.
 
Please ensure best possible internet connection and speed when downloading the larger files – particularly for Pro Membership files.
Finding Details
You can view all available files by browsing the categories in the detail section of the website.
 
There is also a search function, which will allow you to search for specific construction types or elements etc.
 
If you are unable to find the detail you are looking for please get in touch – we are here to help.
Cancelling Membership
Your membership will auto renew at the end of your year’s subscription. If you do not want the membership to auto-renew, you can cancel at any time. By cancelling, you will continue to have access to the details and your account for the remainder of your subscription period, regardless of when you cancel. On the renewal date, the payment will not be taken and you will no longer have access to the downloads.

CAD Printing and Plotstyle

If you would like to print your CAD drawings so that they are in the same style as the drawings you see on the Detail Library you can download the .ctb plotstyle from the Resources section of the library.

One you have downloaded the plotstyle you can load it into your CAD. Open a CAD drawing and type PLOTSTYLE and press enter. Click on the drop down menu and select import. Then navigate to where you have saved the Detail Library plotstyle and select.

When you go to print, type PLOT and select the new .ctb plotstyle from the drop down list next to Plot Style.

Your drawings should now be printed in the same style as Detail Library.

Importing Details into Revit
